Solar Eclipse.
“And the moon in haste eclipsed her, and the Sun in anger swore, He would curl his wick within him, and give light to you no more.”

CLICK THE PICTURE TO SEE THE ANIMATION: See if you can identify each stage and the parts in each stage.
Interphase: The cell makes two copies of its DNA and its organelles. Genetic material is just chilling in the nucleus as CHROMATIN.
Prophase: Genes wrap up into chromosomes. Nuclear membrane disappears. CENTRIOLES move to opposite poles.
Metaphase: SPINDLE FIBERS come out of the CENTRIOLES and move the chromosomes to the EQUATOR, meaning they line up in the middle of the cell. The SPINDLE FIBERS are attached to the chromosomes’ CENTROMERES.
Anaphase: The SPINDLE FIBERS shorten, and the CENTROMERES are split, and the different sides of the chromosomes are pulled back to the CENTRIOLES.
Telophase/Cytokinesis: A CLEAVAGE FURROW forms, and the cell divides, with half of the genetic material on each side. The new cells are called DAUGHTER CELLS and are IDENTICAL to the parent cell.
How to keep centrioles and centromere straight?
Centriole is like a fishing pole. And it rhymes with fishing pole. But actually, if the cell is a lake, it sits on the side, throws out some line, attaches to the chromosome-fish, and reels it back in.
Centromere has an “M” in it for middle, because all it is is the spot in the middle of the chromosome.
